Frontier Fairness, an independent spending committee supporting Democratic gubernatorial candidate Michael Johnston, will start airing TV ads supporting the candidate today.
Thus far, KCNC in Denver is reporting a contract of more than $302,000, while KMGH is reporting more than $136,000. Both contracts run from today through May 14. KUSA filed a disclosure for Frontier Fairness on Monday but has yet to file a contract.
Johnston is a former state senator and is one of four Democrats in the June 26 gubernatorial primary.
U.S. Rep. Jared Polis started advertising on TV last week and continues this week. He has scheduled nearly $1 million in TV ads, with much of June booked.
On the Republican side, businessman and former state Rep. Victor Mitchell continues to air ads, also spending about $1 million.
And independent spending committee Better Colorado Now is airing ads supporting state Treasurer Walker Stapleton’s bid.
Also on the June GOP primary ballot is former Parker Mayor Greg Lopez. Businessman Doug Robinson is appealing a Secretary of State rejection of his petition signatures
Both Polis and Mitchell are spending their own money on their campaigns.
