Rep. Paul Rosenthal, who saw sexual harassment allegations against him dismissed, is getting a different challenge.
Emily Sirota filed to run against him in the Denver House District 9 primary.
If her name sounds familiar, it may be because she ran for Denver Public School Board in 2011, losing by more than 7,000 votes. Or it may be because her husband, David Sirota, is a political journalist with International Business Times (and a former syndicated columnist whose work sometimes appeared in the Denver Post).
Emily Sirota’s LinkedIn profile lists her as director of admissions and operations at Temple Emanuel Early Childhood Center. UPDATE: Sirota’s website is live.
Rosenthal is in his third term in the House. He teaches at a youth correctional facility.
The dismissed complaint against him involved an episode in 2012 when he was campaigning during his first election campaign, before he joined the House. And Rosenthal has denied the allegations.
House District 9 is in southeast Denver, with 42 percent Democrats and 36 percent unaffiliated voters.
